About

"Blindness separates people from things; deafness separates people from people."
– Helen Keller

The ability to hear connects us to our world in many ways. From treasured contact with friends and family to maximum performance in the workplace to physical safety. Hearing provides deep and important connections that no other sense can replace.

Good hearing results in positive health outcomes, increases social engagement, improves communication, and lowers the risk of cognitive decline and depression. Everyone should know the status of their hearing health and how to protect it over their lifetime. The best method to understanding your hearing health is by speaking with a licensed hearing professional and having a hearing test.

On average, it takes nearly four years for someone to seek help after noticing a hearing difficulty.1 Four years is a long time to live with a treatable health issue! In a 2022 study conducted by the Hearing Industries Association (HIA) where over 15,000 American households were surveyed, 83% of hearing aid owners were satisfied with their hearing aid technology. Furthermore, 91% of those who visited a hearing professional were satisfied with their professional's quality of service during the fitting and after the purchase, along with professionalism, efficiency, and the quality of counseling.

A dedicated group of consumer organizations, hearing professional organizations, hearing aid manufacturers and retailers have come together on this campaign to change behavior so that a hearing wellness check becomes as routine as an annual exam for vision, dental, physical, mammogram/pap test or PSA test. We invite you to learn more about the positive benefits of healthy hearing.
